LongROAD Travel App

This app serves as a travel diary for the LongROAD Participants. All data are completely anonymous and only viewed by LongROAD Researchers. This study is funded by AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

The aim of the LongROAD study is to understand and meet the safety and mobility needs of the nation’s growing population of older adult drivers. LongROAD App Benefits: This app serves as a travel diary for LongROAD participants. No hardware is required. No interaction with the app is required. Minor, but necessary updates to app may be necessary. 1) Install the app 2) app runs in the background 3) data is tracked and reviewed by approved LongROAD research scientists only. App keeps track of participants’ driving behavior (each month) including: total number of trips made, total number of miles driven, total minutes of driving, number of trip chains, percent of trips at night, percent of trips at peak morning (commuting) hours, number of trips on high speed roads, number of trips within 15 miles of home, number of trips within 25 miles of home, number of left turns, number of right turns, right to left turn ratio, high deceleration events, and speeding events. All data are completely anonymous and only viewed by LongROAD researchers/scientists. Battery Life Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
